Just one time moving it with an unbolted generator can do it.  As you 
already know, the mount plate (end bin) is very thin metal (the whole 
generator only weighs 45 lbs.) - and is certainly susceptible to a 
good knock to the start motor.

Not at all.  Only one side is "hot".  You'd have to touch that plus 
the incoming AC (behind the cover on left end of generator) at the 
same time.  You'll get bit - you can bet on it.
