You're right that all you need is a supply for B+ and a simple circuit to attunuate the voltage from the pre-amp's G terminal for a line out. There is a schematic available for a B+ power supply that is a relatively simple project, and the line out is even easier. My experience is that the CV pre-amp really benefits from replacing caps and resistors that have drifted out of spec, which is about an afternoon's work. A SS pre-amp would be a step backward, in my opinion. Regards, Dave Bishop
