[HAM] Bypassing caps in Leslie connector box ?

  Leslie 25 and L100

  I have tracked the output drop/distortion to the connector box .
Inside the box are a couple of caps that are in the signal path.
  If I bypass these with a jumper , the signal clears up.
  What do these caps do , and why can't I just bypass them ?
  It appears to me that this is  just a direct line to the speaker in 
the Leslie
via the cable and connector box in the Leslie .
