[HAM] Chopping Hammonds

At this point in my life I tend to agree with the 'anti-choppers' here, as I
have gained reverence for the remaining Hammonds in the world (and there are
several decent clones out there now). But I must say, 40 years ago when I
reassembled my B3 into 2 boxes, one for the TWG and one for the upper manual
and controls, it was a MARKED improvement. I had hauled the original B3
around for 6 months, banging it around up and down stairwells, etc, and it
was awful, as anyone who has actually gigged a local bar circuit knows. With
the chop I could carry the organ by myself in two trips without dollies, and
transport it in the back seat of most cars. I put the preamp in a separate
box that mounted the expression pedal directly (using bellcrank linkage). Of
course, I was playing crude rock and roll, not trio jazz, and there were no
decent clones then, only Farfisas and Voxes, which sounded hideous.
