I don't have statistics, but I've heard a raft of anectdotes about theft.  A 
lot of bigger city venues are not in nice neighborhoods.  Sometimes they pop 
the padlock, other times they just hijack the whole trailer and empty it in 
some alley.  I've also heard of problems at outdoor festivals.  I used a 
trailer ball lock and a siren security system back in the day.  Storing gear 
in the trailer seems like a great idea, but you have to watch the heat and 
dust or insect infiltration.  Many trailers leak, are subject to splashes, 
or condense humidity on the interior metal parts.
