Here's a good one! I think many of you will recognize the sound of this
player, but this record is made of unobtanium so I want to share it. If you
guess correctly who it is, so much the better.

One thing I love about this record is the clear recording of what pedal
taps sound like. Joey D. calls them "pedal thumps" and maybe that's a more
accurate description than "taps." If you have good bass response on your
computer sound system you'll see what I mean. At 4:23 he gets wild,
switching back and forth between manuals for single notes. At 5:12 some
exciting parallel-pedal-walking begins (backing up the saxophonist). At
5:54 we have some cool high bass playing. At 5:59, more great pedal doubling.

The arrangement is interesting and the piano part, which I mostly try to
ignore, is also overdubbed by the organist. The sudden rising chords on the
turnaround at the end of the bridge are very interesting indeed, and were
subsequently played incorrectly on a much later recording. (Some players
don't know or care what they played on a record 25 years before.) Later
I'll reveal what they're supposed to be for the harmonically-minded. It's a
combo that needs both the guitar part and the organ part to be complete chords.

Oh and happy Mother's Day, 'cuz this guy's a real mutha!
