[HAM] Connecting an H-182 to a Leslie 22R

I have an H series hammond and a Leslie 22R. I'm not really certain what
you mean by "the Leslie is kind of in pieces". Can you be more specific?
Does the organ play correctly through its internal speakers? Was this 22R
connected to the H series organ before you bought it? Does it have the
half-moon switches on the console?

The direct answer to your question is that its possible to hook these two
together, but its not easy. The cable you have probably has a six wire male
and female Amphenal connector on either end. The female side plugs into the
Leslie at the power amp in the rear bottom left of the cabinet. You should
check whether there is a second amplifer in your Leslie. The R in 22R means
the cabinet is built to accept a reverb amp and speaker. Whether the reverb
is present or not depends on whether you find that second amp. It may have
a separate cable and switch to control the reverb volume from the organ.

The H series is harder to connect to a Leslie because the organ has a bass
channel and two treble channels out of phase with each other. Leslie sold a
connector kit model 8216 to accomplish this mixing into a single channel.
If your organ has one already, it will be a metal\brass colored rectangular
box with the number 015644 on it, mounted somewhere in the lowest shelf of
the rear of the instrument. There is a five pin cable that plugs into the
organ's power amp. You then turn the switch on the power amp from console
to tone cab. The Leslie cable is plugged in to the amphenol socket marked
"Leslie SPKR". The halfmoon switch is plugged into this box, and you can
set the volume and tone. If you don't see such a Leslie kit, you'll want to
buy one, but they go for around $150 on eBay.

Unless its been converted, your Leslie 22R has fast and "coast to a stop"
speeds. Because of the age of the Leslie amp, I would replace at least
certain capacitors before I even turned it on.
