Since you know in your head how a "normal" Leslie setup sounds, your variant (where really only the mids will be spinning) won't even come close to what you're used to hearing. As far as external amps go, though: I recently bought a LAB series L2 amp, which I intended to use for bass guitar. As it turns out, I tried it on my ampless "760-in-a-122-cab" gig Leslie, and it sounds fantastic! This little solid state amp has a glow and a depth that would make you think it was made for Hammond amplification. I am absolutely stunned by it. /Magnus
