[HAM] expression pedal

i've seen alot of these chops with the capasitor & expression pedal made into a seperate pedal with a plug into the pre-amp. does anybody out there have any kind of instructions or diagram on how to do this? i've got a fair idea on how it's done but understand that the sheilding is pretty critical.
