I like hot rodding the Hammond because of the convenience and the extra
tonal variety  that I can now get. I can get the  pure stock sound and I
can also easily get some of the best hot rodded raunchy Rock Hammond
sounds  with my modified 1962 C3.
I think that Bill Beer( Keyboard Products) did brilliant work on
Hammonds and Leslies and I quite like his  fat sounding organs and high
power Leslies.
It is a shame that he died and it is also a shame that  he was so
secretive  about his designs that he has not left proper documentation
behind so that people can repair and restore his customised Hammonds and
Leslies.
 
I know that some people do not regard Bill Beer  highly and in the
Hamtech archives I saw a post by  the one time Hamtech  member Dessert
Bob Scarborough where he dismissed the Bill Beer  organs by  saying
something like '' and we all know what the Keyboard Products organs
sounded like don't we? "
 
I think that some of the stock purists who believe that the Hammonds and
Leslies must never be modified away from their stock configuration would
very strongly dislike Bill Beer's work and I have been strongly
castigated at Hamtech for  discussing things like  TG recalibration and
overdrive circuits and Leslie modifications.

Thanks for the tips.? I have tried the no deflector thing years ago. It
has an interesting sound for sure. I too was/is a B3/Leslie hotrodder
and was always searching for a good way to do a mod for both. It's good
to know there are still enthusiasts for this type of sound. I'm
wondering why is it that no one has carried on Bill's work?
