This was Hammond's attempt at a rotary speaker. It wasn't all that great. The effect isn't as profund as an actual leslie. You can hear an AX20 which is very similar, being played on a rare Hammond BA here - http://www.nycfarmboy.com/ba/bademo.html 
  Needless to say, it failed miserably, along with every other attempt Hammond made to stamp out Leslie speakers.
