Thanks for listening Karlo and glad you dug it!

I purchased wisely? It's just a plain ole' stock 58 or 57 (I always get the
vintage of my B3 and C3 mixed up) B3 with a red tag 147 with the horn
deflectors IN.
There's another track that I can't find right now ("Take Five Sticks" - see
if you can guess where that abomination came from) where that rig is REALLY
screaming - I believe Dave McCracken characterized it as "spitting piss and
fire, dammit".
I probably had the swell trim turned out a bit and I'll confess to having
murdered a couple of V21s with the rig set up that way. Since I started
handling my own bass chores I've softened up my sound (distorted bass is
none too bassy) and as I posted the other day, I've since converted my 147s
to 122-type front ends because I was playing to many places with crappy
power and the unbalanced 147 input was a hum magnet. Solved the hum problem
but they just don't sound the same. Maybe I can get some of that back if I
knock out the deflectors.

What kind of rig do you have? I'll tell you that it really depends on the
organ - and I don't mean the model exactly. I bought an A102 from the
aforementioned Mr. McCracken around the same time these recordings were made
and although it is a great sounding organ it didn't throw swords like that
B3, even thru the same Leslie. I turned the swell cap out, I swapped the
pre-amps with the one in the B3 and still the A102 just smiled pleasantly.
I thought it might be the matching transformer but I never got around to
testing that theory. Although based on some of the conversations I've seen
here, maybe it's the TG curve! Having said that...
Ladies and gentleman, now stepping up to the microphone... ;^)
Thanks,
John
