I posted it. While I did not say "cheap build quality", I would say that
the computer/electronics boards are built with the same quality and
production practices as any current board for a computer or other
consumer equipment. Current electronic products simply do not have the
robustness of older, discrete component, hand soldered, labor intensive
products. This is true even in the military electronics field - things
have really changed from the days of money is no object to today's cost
is everything.

Of course nobody really cares because your computer/dvd player/whatever
is gonna be obsolete in a half decade at most. Unfortunately the guts of
the newB3 are being produced in the same factories, same processes,
probably same components as the computer/dvd/whatever boards.

You answered Ivar's hypothetical claim that his 100 year old realB3
would be operational while a 50 year old newB3 would not be with a
"Maybe". That says it all.

Andy

PS Don't dislike speculation too much... it is the first step in
engineering, followed of course by research, development and then
finally implementation!

Maybe. But whomever it was that posted about cheap build quality is
making
a big assumption unless he has actually inspected one up close and
personal. I dislike speculation about anything.
