I know this is a basic statement, but just to be sure:

Most 147 amplifier chassis have 5 AC outlets.
There are three on top and two in the front.
The two left most outlets are for the fast motor.
The next pair in are for the slow motor.
And the right most outlet on the top is for powering a reverb unit if the
system has one.

Having two 147 amps fail in the exact same way while trying different cables
and switches leaves only a few possibilities.

The motors are in the wrong outlets, the connector box on the organ is at
fault or you do have two 147 amps that have a short between pins 2 & 3.

The Leslie in question is? a 147 and I exchanged the amp from one of my
147's and the Leslie remained on fast speed. I also tried a different switch
and different cable, but the Leslie remained stuck on fast speed. When I
first contacted the owner the Leslie was switching between chorale and
tremolo with no problem.
