I didn't say that it was. I'm a good reader. My comment about hum had to do 
with how to approach those two connections.

Yeah, that's exactly when mechanical parts bump into each other (when the 
pedal is all the way down), and the resulting vibration can easily cause a 
bad connection to act up.
Here's a first principle that has served me well in fixing organs:
If the problem starts after I have worked on something, that's the first 
place I look to correct the problem. This advice is worth more $$$ than you 
or I got.
