[HAM] Can Capacitor sourcesDavid Anderson thermionic27609 at earthlink.netMon Feb 18 15:58:51 CST 2008
There are two main sources for can capacitors: Antique Electronic Supply (tubesandmore.com) and Vibroworld. AES makes theirs the same way the old ones were made--or at least on the same equipment. I think Vibroworld uses discrete modern capacitors and encapsulates them in cans. They will make custom units for you. Some radio guys cut open the old capacitors, chuck the guts, and stuff modern replacements inside. Then again, they also seal modern film caps inside cardboard tubes from which they've removed the original paper units--all to keep everything looking original. Not even I am sufficiently obsessive compulsive to go THAT far..... David On Feb 18, 2008, at 2:51 PM, Andrew Young wrote: > So, where do you guys get your cans from?
