[HAM] Audacity Soundforge program. Was: CapacitorsKon Zissis kziss at ozemail.com.auTue Feb 19 04:47:25 CST 2008
Hi Christoph. I have a Windows based computer with the Windows XP program in it. My computer is set up in the garage and it gets the wireless broadband internet signal from the modem that is in my brother's bedroom at the other side of the house. Because of the wireless internet signal , I often have an unstable internet connection. My computer knowledge is not very advanced, I mainly just use the computer for emails and the internet. My brother is far more knowledgeable with computers than I am and he has set up my computer with the computer programs , the security programs , anti virus software etc. I have downloaded the Audacity program and I will have to learn how to use it. I might be able to get my brother to help me out with this but I don't know how much he knows about audio related computer programs because he is not into music like I am. I have a few cheap microphones and a Shure SM-58 but I don't have any studio recording quality microphones so therefore I do not know how good the quality of the recording of my Hammond organ and Leslie would be after I learn how to use this program. Hopefully I might be able to get a nice full sound with the proper use of the EQ. It would be good to have a good quality digital recorder like the Samson Zoom recorder that Scott Hawthorn uses to get good quality sounding live recordings. All the best. Get the program "audacity" (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ), a free audio recording, editing and playback program with a lot of nifty features. Despite from enabling you to export into an MP3 you can also keep the full sample information within an audacity project and exporting into a WAV-file also preserves the full sample info (as someone, Keith I believe, objected that an MP3 degrades the sound quality). And you have the Fourier transform in the program also. You can record from a mic or from line in or from the sound mixer program. As said, for free on vaious platforms.
