Rhett,

As others have suggested, the thing to do in a situation like this is to find where the problem is in the signal chain. I did have a Leslie cable, one of the ones with a cast rubber end like an extension cord you'd buy at the hardware store, that would cause a problem like what you describe. The fix was to chop the end off the cable and solder a new socket on the end, but it could be in many places, including the preamp or the speaker. I live in Raleigh...

>I have a question regarding a 58 C3 that I picked up not long ago. Everything works as it should on this stock C3, but occasionally a loud rumbling noise overtakes the signal. I believe the rumbling is random, nothing I do seems to directly cause it. Notes on the organ can still be heard faintly underneath the rumbling. Turning off the organ and then restarting it doesn't stop the rumbling usually, I can not find any way to eliminate it. When I started the organ today it wasn't rumbling, a change from when it was last used in mid-december. However it started back within 30 minutes or so. Its not a gradual thing, the noise just starts out of nowhere. The organ has a standard hook-up for 147 type Leslies. Has anyone ever run into this before? I live in Boone, NC and the only tech around is a general electronics technician, so I wanted to consult the list for advice so I can let my tech know what needs to be done. Thanks a lot,
