I still stand by my 15 watt rating for the V-21

Subject: [HAM] V-21 power ratings

Guys,
As the 760 bi-amped Leslie was rated at 35 watts Treble at 16 Ohms and used
the V-21 - (I bought one well used a couple of years ago and it still had a
good V-21 intact) - I suspect they are rated for at least 35 watts of
undistorted signal. The specs on the 760 amps are 35 watts treble, 55 watts
bass - (uses a 4-ohm bass speaker - Pyle manufacturer for the speakers
original to my 760's according to the manuf. Serial & model numbers)
according to the Leslie brochure and service manual.

Most of Leslies 1970's solid state Pro-Line units with the traditional
treble horn had the V-21 and a 35 watt treble amp. Exceptions were the 330
(with an Atlas driver) and the 925 with the massive JBL 2482 driver.

Several organ techs have told me the V-21 will handle about 35-40 watts
undistorted and the Jensen 15PLL will handle about 55 - 60 watts
undistorted.

I once fried - incinerated might be a better word - a JBL 2461 - rated for
50 watts continuous program music (according to their brochure) in one of my
760's with some pretty grinding overdrive. -- Nothing like the smell of
speaker coil going up in smoke.
