Karlo -

As I have learned, there are different ways to do it, but commonplace is to
have an initial day rate, and discounted days thereafter. So something
like, day 1 and 2 are your initial rate, day 3 and 4 are discounted, and a
week maxing at 4 or 5 days. If you're sending a rig on the road then you
can have some other discount scheme for subsequent weeks.

A cartage charge (delivery/pick-up) is also standard. Draw up a contract
that states not only the financial terms what is permitted in terms of
moving the organ once it's set in place(it may not be moved), what may be
placed on top of the organ (nothing), compensation for damage(there better
not be any). And get paid upon delivery. Also, a clause that says
something about how your gear is kept in top condition but that 50-year-old
gear can be, er, cranky.

Most (if not all) of these guidelines came from someone (I don't know if he
wants to be named) on your side of the Atlantic.
