[HAM] Cotton Oiling String

With nothing to lose on the stuck scanner, it's now pulled down and the
insides soaking in alcohol. Also, to get access to the stuck bearing
where the oil string was missing, I've drilled out the four rivets holding
the bearing/flat spring/backing plate in. Now an oil string can be put on
the bearing/bushing whatever it's called. Brass pop rivets should work
just fine for reassembly.

Question is: What kind of cotton string? Just any heavy cotton thread,
or something special?

Thanks for all the help,
Jim Shanks
