Okay, I've got this thing all taken apart and hoping I can get it back
together again.
The scanner bearing can be turned by hand but is stiff . If I
understand correctly , I should let this soak in a solvent such as
denatured alcohol or naptha for a few days and then oil the dickens out
of it. Someone else mentioned carburetor cleaner.
I am wondering about the bakelite gear because it is spinning freely
on the rotor shaft without spinning the rotor.
Is that supposed to do that or has something broken in there so that
the gear motion is
no longer transferred to the rotor?
