[HAM] In Defense of 1970s LSI HammondsEdlich57 at aol.com Edlich57 at aol.comSat Mar 1 19:42:52 CST 2008
I know this list is mainly for tonewheel Hammonds, and I own a A102 and Leslie 251. But i am also a fan of the LSI 1970 Hammonds, as I also have a 1978 2307M Concorde with matching Leslie 710. The Concorde makes beautiful music, and has some wonderful percussion voices that the tonewheel Hammond could not. I have my A102 at one end of my living room, the Concorde 2307M is at the opposite end. Granted, my A102 is relatively trouble free, while the Concorde 2307M requires more maintenance, mostly contact cleaning. But all in all, I love both machines, and would not want to sell either. I makes me mad when people poo-poo LSI Hammonds as junk, when properly maintainted LSI Hammonds as the Concorde and Elegante are wonderful instruments. **************Ideas to please picky eaters.
