A full preamp rebuild by a competent tech shouldn't run more than $200 or so. Then your original tube preamp is good to go for a good time to come. I think the Trek pre is something like $650. If you do have a tech install the Trek keep the original. I've heard some stories... "well you won't needing this old broken tube amp any more now that you have this solid state unit, I'll just take it off your hands..."
