[HAM] Insurance for B3William Mark Bristow gfc at classicnet.netWed May 21 17:17:20 CDT 2008
Guys, Some have asked the question about insuring equipment while it travels by van or trailer and while it is on location in a venue. If I understand my insurance agent. Our travelling equipment is first covered by our auto insurance (trailer insurance in some cases if the trailer requires it - one of ours does in Texas) - while and only while it is in the trailer attached to a vehicle. Second we carry what is called, I believe, a Marine Floater Policy on our sound, organs, Leslies and hand trucks, road cases and such. It requires you to inventory to each specific item (other than misc connectors and stuff) with model and serial number. We keep photos of our equipment so it would be easy to see the equipment is well kept. It is then valued at the purchase and/or replacement price. (Good luck trying to actually get replacement and not depreciated value from the insurance co.) Our marine floaters for is about $60 to $100 per $10,000 of insured equipment per year - depending on coverage. Very inexpensive if the equipment is your livelihood. William Mark Bristow
