[HAM] Leslie Rotor DirectionDavid Anderson thermionic27609 at earthlink.netThu May 22 20:42:16 CDT 2008
Jim, The motor directions are what I'd expect. On the old single-speed cabinets, the rotors turned in the same direction. When they went to the two-speed motors, they flipped the lower motor upside down, changing its direction. This was one of the quasi-accidental changes of going from single-speed to two speed cabinets, the other main issue being that there was an unintentional reversal of amplifier phase as a result of moving the plugs around. So, if you're running a two-speed cabinet and a single speed in tandem, you have to check the phase of the woofers. Depending on how they're located relative to each other, it can be an issue. David P.S. The story about the amplifier phase reversal comes from a conversation with Harvey Olsen. Don Leslie admitted to him that it was an inadvertent result of changing the wiring layout of the front end of the amp. Maybe I can ask them that if no one here knows. >
