[HAM] Another Columbus, OH legend has passed. John Ulrich, jazz pianist and teacher.

I read in the paper this morning that John Ulrich passed at the age  
of 86.

He was very active in the Hot Jazz society here in Columbus even in  
recent years and was well known in those circles nationally.
Saw him play just a couple of years back. Still was playing as  
intensely as ever. He was an incredible stride player, not to mention  
a walking textbook of jazz literature.

I studied with him my freshman year at Capital University when he was  
on the jazz faculty. Would run into him in town over the years.

This year we've lost John and Dave Wheeler, and then Hank Marr in 2004.
So all my jazz piano teachers have passed on in recent years.
