"Rebuilt Racks from C.A.R. Components Work Like Brand New"
The mechanics at C.A.R. Components disassemble and bead blast used
steering racks. The racks are then reassembled and adjusted. Rack gears and
pinion gears are replaced if suspect. Inner tie-rod ends are rebuilt with new ball
and socket components. Outer tie-rod ends are replaced with new. Rubber rack
gaiters are replaced with new. You will need to install your rebuilt rack with
new rubber or urethane mountings, and you should check your steering column
joints and mountings too. Replace any parts that have perished or that allow
free movement. If your front suspension is in good shape, and you install
a rebuilt steering rack as described here, your car will have tight
steering like it had the day it left the showroom floor...

TRF lost some employees of C.A.R.
Components last year, and we had a big backlog
going into the autumn months. In November, we
hired a new mechanic and manager, Tom Spadafora. Tom had run his own
shop for many years, and we knew of him because he maintained some British
cars for local customers, and he purchased parts for them from our company.
Tom is a successful drag racer with years of experience in building racing
engines for himself and for his customers. He also has very wide experience in
building other mechanical units, and he brings with him many good ideas for
organizing C.A.R. Components and increasing its production capabilities.
Tom Spadafora will help C.A.R. Components to increase its capabilities and
to reduce the amount of time required to rebuild specific units and return them
to customers. He is generally pleased with our specifications for rebuilt units,
particularly for engines. He believes that we go far beyond what is generally
provided in a rebuilt engine, and he feels that our prices provide an excellent
value when compared with industry standards.
