You may not be able to rebuild your own diff, but you can probably
remove it yourself. Then you can ship it to C.A.R. Components for rebuilding
with the best parts available by mechanics who rebuild diffs every day. We use
higher-quality bearings than you can purchase from most British parts vendors
and the best seals money can buy. More important even than the best parts is
the knowledge of the mechanics who set up each diff according to the
specifications in the factory workshop manual. Just read those instructions if
you need to understand the level of work involved. Yes, C.A.R. Components
owns a Churchill pinion setting gauge, a special tool that you would look a long
time to find anywhere else. The quality of the workmanship shows outside and
inside, and it continues to show for tens of thousands of miles after it is
installed in your car.
One small extra included in a diff from C.A.R. Components is a drain plug.
Every diff is drilled for a drain plug, so you can change your diff oil from time
to time without removing the unit from the car. Who knows why drain plugs
were discontinued during production?
