NEW GUNST THROW-OUT BEARING AND
SLEEVE ASSEMBLY
A new high-tech throw-out bearing has been developed by a German
Triumph enthusiast named Joachim Gunst. The bearing is very high quality,
and it is mounted on an especially machined bronze sleeve. The bearing is
meant to turn all the time, eliminating the shock and wear of the bearing
contacting the fingers on the pressure plate each time the pedal is depressed.
As the bearing turns all the time, the kit also includes a spring, bracket, and
instructions for installing an assembly which will keep the bearing constantly
located against the fingers. This new bearing is expensive, and it has attracted
the interest and endorsement of several well-known Triumph enthusiasts, and of
course, it has been copied. TRF sells genuine bearings available only from
Joachim Gunst...

brand,as described above; fits all TR250
and TR6 with any of the clutch options
offered by The Roadster Factory; comes
with German bear grease
P.S. Gunst kit includes two dowel pins to correctly locate the gearbox housing
on the rear engine plate to make sure that the throw-out bearing is really
centralized. The slot in the throw-out sleeve is wider to permit installation of
two blocks on the clutch fork pins. A spring and metal strap are mounted to
one of the gearbox cover bolts and then attached under slight tension to the top
hole in the cross-shaft lever per Dick Taylor's sketch provided above.
Installation instructions accompany the bearing kit.
P.P.S. Joachim does not recommend using his throw-out bearing with Borg&
Beck pressure plates or with any pressure plates having bent or "crooked" end
on spring fingers...
