FINNED ALLOY BRAKE DRUMS, TR3A, TR3B, TR4,
TR4A, TR250, TR6
For many years TRF was selling brake drums for TR6 which were adapted from drums
manufactured for Datsun "Z" cars. These were coming to us from Italy through England, and
we were always out of stock. This past summer found us with many backorders, and we found
that we could purchase the drums more directly and also that they were blanks that we could
machine specifically for TR4A through TR6. It didn't take us very long to realize that we could
also "make" drums in this way to apply to TR3A, TR3B, and TR4, the solid axle models with
nine-inch brakes. We have maintained stocks of these components since we introduced them in
late summer. No machining is necessary if you purchase these drums for any of the models
listed above. We have done all necessary machine work for you, and we have drilled the
countersunk holes for the screws which hold the drums onto the rear hubs.
Finned alloy drums were a competition option for many of the earlier Triumph models, and
they look wonderful when they are installed on the cars, particularly those with wire wheels or
those with alloy spokes. Aside from looks, the finned alloy drums dissipate heat more quickly
than stock drums.
