INTRODUCTION
Dear TRF Customer...
As usual, I am writing the first part of the Christmas Catalogue last. Actually, I have just returned after midnight
from taking the catalogue to Pittsburgh where I left it in my printer's lock box. We will e-mail this introduction in
the morning. The catalogue was produced, this year in only eight days by a bunch of us working hard. I've worked
steadily writing and compiling the various sections of the catalogue, Karen Border has set it up in type and pages
with all of the illustrations and graphics. My son Albert, Deb Gawlas, Dolly LaRock, and John Swauger have all
helped to research sources of parts and novelties, to enter computer files, to make an index, and to do many other
jobs, including in Deb's case modeling the old school scarf on page 29. When looking through the catalogue pages
earlier this evening, I was thinking that she still looks quite beautiful after working at TRF for more than twenty-five
years.
In fact, all of those named in the previous paragraph have been associated with TRF for a very long time, Albert
included, as he and I began to learn the parts trade when he was only one year old and his mom went back to her
teaching job, leaving him at home with me. That was at the first TRF location, an apartment, where we lived in
Indiana, Penna. John Swauger started there too, just before we moved into the barn on my parents' farm in 1980.
By the way, we've just finished a two year project to restore the barn here on the farm where TRF is still located. It
got a new metal roof and new siding of "band sawed Amish hemlock" two summers ago, and this summer it was
painted by Chuck Findley who makes our wood dashes and Andy Patterson a part-time worker. The barn now looks
pristine on the outside, but it will take Hercules himself to sort out the mass of used parts, engine cores, and treasures
inside.
As always, we have produced Our Christmas Catalogue as a treat for our regular customers and to provide
hobby-related gift ideas to friends and family, girlfriends, boyfriends, lovers, etc. Although, we produced the
catalogue pretty much from start to finish in just eight days this year, I hope that you will agree that we have
included a good selection of car parts, car models, Union Jack novelties, and interesting stuff like the model steam
engines we found. After looking over the offerings of manufacturers and distributors, I decided to revive a few TRF
collectables from the past. We brought back three hoodie sweatshirt designs and a pair of genuine old school scarves
that I had offered back in the 1980's. I hope that you like these things as much as I do.
The 2007 business year has been a really great one so far at TRF. We have all worked very hard--I know that I
