I have to decide each year if I will continue to offer TRF tuck boxes. They are really
quite wonderful, but they do require a big effort to produce and to meet the Christmas
demand. Nevertheless, I am honoured that customers still value this type of product, and
for that alone, I would work hard to keep them available for those who want them.
Triumph and MG Tuck Boxes are based on the home-made plywood trunks used by
TRF for many years to transport catalogues and parts to outdoor car shows. An English
vendor once commented that they reminded her of "tuck boxes" used by English boys and
girls at boarding schools to lock up personal items, especially goodies; i.e. food, aka "tuck"
sent from home. When my daughter, Caroline, an MGB enthusiast, went off to college six
years ago, I decided to make her an MG tuck box from one of my old plywood trunks.
Caroline liked her box so much that I also decided to offer them to TRF customers at
Christmas time.
TRF's Triumph and MG tuck boxes are heavy plywood construction designed to take a
battering if necessary. All boxes are painted in battleship grey and come with galvanized
side handles, hinges, and hasps. Craftsmanship is very nice, and tuck boxes are finished
with lettering as seen in the illustrations. Use yours as a tuck box, a toy box, a tool box, a
parts storage box, etc. Several racers use tuck boxes to store spare parts in their car trailers.
Custom lettering may be ordered at extra cost.
