WILTON WOOL CARPET SETS, TR2, TR3, TR3A,
1954-58

The TR2 and early TR3 carpet set was a very elegant
design with many small pieces which were cemented to
the gearbox covers and floors with trim adhesive or
secured with carpet snaps. The material was Wilton
wool, as used in Jaguars of that time in keeping with
Triumph's desire to give its cars a higher level of trim
than lower-priced sports cars of the 1950's. The TR2 and
early TR3 carpet set was recreated by The Magic Carpet
Factory exactly to original dimensions and specifications
as taken from a very original car with its original carpet
formerly in Harrod's collection of automobiles and now owned by Tom Householder of Lancaster, Ohio.
If you have a TR2 or early TR3 model, you will not find a more original appearing set of carpet than the
ones listed below.
Triumph continued the use of Wilton wool carpet material in the TR3A model for 1958 only before
switching to rayon loop pile carpet in 1959, although the pattern of the gearbox cover carpet changed in
1958, and we suspect that rubber mats may have been fitted instead of front floor carpets. Nevertheless,
all of TRF's wool carpet sets come with carpet pieces for the front floor area. If rubber mats are desired,
they may be ordered separately.
Magic Carpet has produced special runs of carpet material in order to supply carpets in colours like
bright cherry red, geranium, stone, and more. The geranium carpet has almost paid for itself after four
years. Investment in new colours is difficult for a very small company. Dianne Terlion would also like
to produce other special colours such as "blackberry," but she can never be sure of the demand. These
carpet sets are something very special, and they are used in very special cars and cars that win concours
prizes. Nevertheless, they are offered at a very reasonable price, considering that some competitors
refuse to offer wool carpets because of the investment required.

P.S. The Magic Carpet Factory has manufactured wool carpet material in a range of exclusive colours
for Triumph models. Cherokee red is a beautiful, bright cherry red, and geranium, also an original colour, is
a pinker shade. Stone is very light tan. Tan is a medium tan colour, and brown is chocolate brown.
