IDENTIFICATION PLATES AND LABELS
COMMISSION NUMBER PLATES
If your old commission number plate has been sand blasted or painted over, replace it with a
new one. Your number can be engraved by a jeweler or punched in with number punches found at
any machine shop. Compare your plate to the illustrations to choose the correct plate. There has
been talk of commission number plates being fitted to cars other than the ones shown here. If you
have a commission number plate that is different than the plates illustrated, we would like to know
about it. We have a good source for these plates and would consider adding it to the range.

BODY NUMBER PLATES
One of our sources recently contacted us with the offer of
producing replica body number plates. These plates are mounted
above the battery, and they were often lost when removed for
painting the engine compartment. It is also common for the lower
plate to have been eaten away by battery acid. The top plate was
attached at Mulliner's when the car body was produced and it was
painted body color. The number on that plate should have the prefix
EB. The lower plate has five or six digits and it is not painted. The
numbers on the plates are stamped from behind so the letters are
raised. This is not easy to do but our contact has mastered the
technique with the help of a 70-year old stamping machine that he
bought. To order plates we will need to know the two body numbers
for your car so that your plates can be stamped. When finished, the plates will be mailed directly
to you. If you do not know your body numbers, which is understandable as the plates may be lost,
you may be able to get your numbers by having your car's history traced through the Heritage
Motor Centre at Gaydon. Information on doing so is listed later in the section. Each body plate is
supplied with two correct screws.
