STRONGER FRONT AXLE KITS SOLVE BRAKING
PROBLEMS ON TR3 MODELS
The flexing of the stock front hub stub axle can present problem during spirited driving,
particularly on rough surfaces. When the axles flex, the brake discs wobble around pushing the
pistons back in the bores in the brake calipers. Once the pistons have been pushed back, it takes
more fluid to get them back out again, and the pedal goes to the floor. Then the second pump
slows the car. But sometimes you don't have time to pump twice.
This problem was solved on BMC cars, MGB, Austin-Healey, etc., at the factory by fitting
spacers between the front wheel bearings, but the Triumph factory just didn't recognize there
was a problem. Now, a U.S. race supplier, Uncle Jack Drews produces spacer kits to solve the
Triumph problem the same way it was solved on BMC cars. He also produces a wonderful kit
that includes bigger, stronger stub axles along with spacers.

STAINLESS STEEL HEAT SHIELDS DEFLECT ENGINE
HEAT FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE
Racers are aware that fuel in carburettors needs to stay cool for best performance. In hot
weather, or when driving at slow speeds in hot weather, fuel can vaporize or "percolate" in the
carburettors before it gets to the engine. Heat shields were devised in the 1960's and 1970's to
keep heat from the exhaust manifold from causing fuel percolation. Joe Alexander, a vintage
racer and parts manufacture has reissued a range of heat shields, including the one listed below
for use with H6 carbs.
