INTERIOR COMPONENTS
SEAT REUPHOLSTERY, EARLY AND
MID-RANGE TR4
TRF's seat kits are made in England. Original materials and colours are
duplicated to concours standards. TRF was deeply involved in the development
of the seat kits that we sell and hundreds of kits are sold each year. In the case
of leather seat kits, the facings of the seats are done in leather sourced by our
manufacturer in England, while the sides and backs of seats are done in vinyl to
match the leather faces as per original Triumph specification.
In the relatively short time that the TR4 was in production, three different
styles of seats were used. The earliest style was very similar to the seats found in
the TR3A and TR3B. The upholstery was fitted to solid steel seat frames and
seat padding was comprised of horsehair and burlap components. Seat bottoms
were spring units as opposed to foam that was used later. The mid-range seats
were very similar in design but had a different pattern. These mid-range seats
were used for a very short time before being replaced by a more modern seat
with a tubular frame and foam padding. Please study the illustrations to order
the correct components. Seat reupholstery kits are available in black, red, and
midnight blue, all with white piping. Please specify colour when ordering.
