BRAND NEW CHILLED IRON CAMSHAFTS, TR250, TR6
"Choose Stock Grinds or High-Performance Street Grinds"
The material for original Triumph camshafts was
specified as "chilled iron." "Chilling iron" is a
metallurgical process which provides a harder surface
well-suited to camshafts, valve tappets, and other
engine components. If you never drive your car over the speed limit, and you only put on a few thousand miles each year, other
repro camshafts may be suitable for your use. If you want the kind of quality that came in your car originally, you may want to use
one of TRF's chilled iron camshafts manufactured by Richard Good.
The stock camshafts listed here are the result of a conversation I had with Richard Good more than a year ago. He had already
begun to offer his high-performance street grinds, and I had listed them in the TR250, TR6 Glove Box Catalogue. At some point, I
realized that, if Richard was making new chilled iron cams with high-performance grinds, it was likely that he could also make
chilled iron cams with stock grinds. I was interested in the stock grinds because I know many customers who want high-quality
parts but they don't want to hop up their cars. Now, more than a year later, we have Richard's chilled iron cams with street grinds
in stock and available for immediate shipment.

P.S. I'll tell you a story that was told to me years ago by an English acquaintance in the motor business. He was a serious
racing fan, always attending Grand Prix races and sponsoring a car of his own in amateur races. His race car was an original Mini,
and it always got beat. Then, he found a new high-performance camshaft. As he put it, "It was like we'd installed a V-8!" If your
engine is well-prepared, the installation of the right cam for how you want to use your car will determine how your car will perform
and at what RPM the power will be found. Racing cars don't need the power at very low RPM, as they never run at low RPM.
However, a street car with all of its power at high RPM can be a nightmare in traffic. Choose your cam based on how you will use
your car.
