BRITISH LEYLAND DOOR MIRRORS FIT MANY MODELS
"No Other Mirror Looks Quite Right on a TR6..."
This door mirror was used by British Leyland dealers on many of their cars of the
late 1960's and early 1970's, most notably on the TR6. TRF bought the remaining stock
from the New Jersey warehouse in 1980 and 1981. There had been two manufacturers,
one packed in orange boxes and one packed in white boxes. We had hundreds of orange
boxes and hundreds of white boxes, but we sold all of them in a month or two. It looked
like a good item for reproduction. Regrettably, neither of the original manufacturers had
kept the tools. It took us years to find a good source, but in the end, we tooled up for our
own mirrors. And we have sold at least five
-
thousand over the past fifteen years. Our
mirrors look and function as original. No other door mirror has the big lens that looks so
right on a TR6...

P.S. This mirror was not originally used on RH doors, and it does not work very well on the RH side.
Some customers install two mirrors to keep their cars symmetrical, but symmetry is not the only
relation of aesthetics...

Tex, a company in Witney, a town in Oxfordshire where British Motor
Heritage is also located, has supplied items such as mirrors and wiper blades to
the British car industry for many years. The practical mirrors fitted to later MGB,
TR7, TR8, later Spitfires, GT6 mk.3 were supplied by Tex, and they are still
available from the original manufacturer, and enthusiasts of the models listed may
still replace dilapidated mirrors with original equipment...
