CARBURETTOR HEAT SHIELDS, TR3, TR4, TR4A,
TR250, TR6
"Install a Heat Shield This Winter, and Your Car May Run Better
Next Summer"
It is something that few people think about, but racers know that the fuel in your carburettors
needs to stay cool in hot weather. Otherwise the fuel will vaporize or "percolate" in the
carburettors before it gets to the engine. You often experience this problem when you stop your
car in hot weather and then you start it up again in a few minutes while the engine compartment is
still hot. At times like that the fuel in your float chambers is percolating like an old time coffee pot
in a railroad yard machine shop. When you restart your car, it runs very rough until some cooler
fuel is pumped into the carbs. This phenomenon can also occur when you are driving at slow
speeds in traffic during hot weather. You can cut down on fuel percolation by fitting a carburettor
heat shield. Heat shields were devised by racers in the 1960's and 1970's to keep heat from the
exhaust manifold from causing fuel percolation. This collection of heat shields has been reissued
by Joe Alexander, a vintage racer and a parts manufacturer. TRF has sold hundreds of heat shields
to Triumph enthusiasts over the past year...
OFFENHAUSER ALLOY VALVE COVER FOR
YOUR TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4A
"Most Beautiful Valve Cover Ever For Your Tractor Engine"
You already know that your Triumph four-cylinder
engine with wet liners was derived from a
Massey-Ferguson tractor engine. That is one reason
why it runs forever and why it is infinitely repairable
with replacement cylinder liners. You may not already
know that Offenhauser, the famous American
manufacturer of racing engines, designed a beautiful
valve cover for your TR engine. The design is
beautiful, and it is functional with very deep fins for
cooling. And the manufacturing is completed to a
higher standard than that of any other valve cover available for the early TR models. The casting is
very well made, and the level of polish is very high with the sides, the tips of the fins, and the cast
in nameplate are all polished like the alloy engine block of a show bike.
